Child’s play

We all deserve to know the truth. In fact, all of the constitutional rights can be subsumed into this alone. The mechanisms of such an exercise is a topic for another time. But here is a quick rundown on that.

The basic needs

Food, clothing and shelter- the basic needs are not in our hands at all actually. Coming from the more than ample Mother Nature, it is however limited. The limitation is further exaggerated when men want to start controlling outcomes. Man has been pushing the extent to which the outcome can be controlled for some time now, with many events resulting in unintended side effects. The question for these men would be- why did that happen? More often than not, we do not understand what really happened.

These men at the political economy leadership to the ones who are cogs in the wheel have bit part played a part in creating this systems are all responsible for this. But do at least some of them have answers which will lead to the truth?

The even more basic needs

Life, dignity and so on. Never before has the divide between the rich and poor been the highest. Going by this, it will only accentuate. The rich not only have greater access to material wealth but also to even greater social security. Why?

Even the feminist movements, supposed to liberate women, have not been able to reduce atrocities on women. Why?

The governments pass on benefits to the poor without really getting them out of poverty. A few exceptions make it big every year, like desalinating a drop of water from the ocean. The drop of water becomes potable but not ocean. Why do governments then continue to spend billions of dollars on such a program?

The distant

Promise of liberation, freedom and the like. The last 200 years has not really given any of that to the population at large. Why? Wars, cold wars, economic wars etc. continue to serve one section of a country, continent or the globe as a whole.

Even religion, history and philosophy has not been left alone. There are narratives, biases to hide the truth. So I strongly believe that we have to make the quest for truth as the goal of individual and society.

All out there

But the retort to all that is “it is all out there”. Data is all out there. Some masked and layered making it impossible to a average person to really get to the truth. Some people want to know the assertion and that is good enough for them. For others, they are little more than willing to delve deep into these layers. But sadly the ones who are obfuscating and manipulating the narratives and complexities outnumber the ones who are trying to bring the truth out. These systems are the ones which are in need of an overhaul. The systems are social networks, knowledge systems, industrial setups, political economy, automation, and many more. The overhaul should be towards simplification with no compromise on the premise or the goals.

All the systems are not helping us become an utopian society (the journey at least), but to serve a small section. It has been hijacked by a few by confusing us at one level, then by manipulating us at another. So we are all running helter skelter, scared and frustrated, while the pyramidal system of resource distribution ensures that everybody gets something out of this while at the top the resource allocation is unfairly high. Why? They know the rules of the game.

Child’s play

Hence it is child’s play. All of this. These are games designed to maximize the outcome. The rules of the engagement are limited in meeting personal and often material or control goals.

So what should we do? Ditch these and start over? Probably not. It just needs a makeover, but the very first step is to simplify. Varying contexts, varying motivations aside, we need to understand these systems. Once we understand them, we can better understand if we want to be part of the problem or the solution.
