It is ironic that a positive feeling has become hard to catch, when we know for a fact that these feelings are good in any dimensions. Whereas negativity run abound, though we know that is not good for us. Why do we do that? Why dwell in this labyrinth of dark thoughts and ill feelings?

Is this a modern day thing or a relic from the past? Has it increased now or do we see and talk about it much more?

We know for a fact that negativity breads negativity. I refuse to believe that in this modern times, an age old adage- ‘A smile is infectious’. I think the converse is probably true.

We need to break the cycle. Almost the Gandhian way. We need to bring in positive things in our lives. And it starts with us. Be super positive. How? Here are a few of my thoughts.

  1. Learn to laugh more- not smile
  2. Exchange ideas with people. A 10 minute quality conversation about other things can help. A 3 hour exchange of random/ transaction words is meaningless
  3. Read, write, build etc. Be creative
  4. A job, a career for which you do not believe is not worth doing. Quit!
  5. Do the chores with passion- It is good for you
  6. Stop TV, Social media. Stop comparing your lives to friends, fictitious movie characters
  7. Be good to others. Learn to forget. Forgiveness is a big word- believe others are good. A colored lens makes one see colored images.
  8. Stop seeing yourself in a higher plane. We all make mistakes, some we recognize and some we do not as mistakes. When others make these mistakes see them as actions, words
  9. Be a societal person. Solve a societal problem. Do not help because somebody needs it, help because you need it.
  10. Do not theorize.
  11. Stop cursing. Stop blaming.
  12. Stop making a martyr about yourself
  13. Stop feeling sorry for yourself
  14. Take care of yourself
  15. Stop indulging. But spend on yourself, spend on others
  16. Have an opinion, but do not rebel or do not be a pushover
  17. Say thanks. And mean it.
  18. Say sorry. And be sorry
  19. Be disciplined
  20. Exercise
  21. Control those mood swings. It creates more harm to you than others
  22. Listen
  23. Pursue something spiritual
  24. Care for others.
  25. Watch your tongue
  26. Travel.
  27. Cook.
  28. Sleep well.
  29. Shout.
  30. Think.
