Yuga Personas

I come from a Madhwa Sampradaya and for us Vayu is the one who manifested himself as Hanuman in Treta Yuga, Bheema in Dwapara Yuga and Madhwacharya in Kali Yuga.

I was just wondering about this today morning and it struck me that the three avataras are very different in terms personalities.

1. Hanuman was more on penance oriented and his Bhakti towards Rama was his driving force
2. Bheema was a little more physical and he defeated powerful people to restore Dharma
3. Madhwacharya used thoughts, logic and speech as primary tools

I think this represents the way the world has moved over the years. Our tongue has become the primary weapon and so too our brain. Not that I am promoting physical things. Though doing something physical helps and meditation definitely gives us the focus. Not that the three avataras did not have the remaining things, but the ones mentioned stood out.

Watch your tongue and use the brain faculty well is my take away from this little brainwave!
